Résumé

Supernumerary muscles of the foot are often not cited in the texts of anatomy, but their presence can sometimes produce alteration in the articulations or in the plantar nervous. We describe the presence of a bilateral supernumerary muscle is an adult man from the Anatomy Department of the University of La Laguna. This supernumerary muscle is related to the quadratus plantae muscle also called: accessorius ad accessorium, accessorius secondus, accessory flexor digitorum longus or pronator pedis. This accessory muscle has its origin in the tibia and fibula on the right foot and only in the fibula on the left side, in both cases are continued by a tendon that end in the sole, concretely in the tendons of the flexor digitorum longus muscle. We also should note, its insertion in the IV lumbrical muscle of the left foot as well as the presence of sesamoid bones in the tendons of peroneus longus muscle and the agenesis of both plantar muscles.
