Abstract

The hypertension is a chronic elevation of the blood pressure upper than normal considered limits, according to the age and sexes groups. In the last year the therapeutic of the AHT has been modified, since the fact of arterial pressure decrease mean and important diminution of the morbidmortality. The arcuate nucleus (AN) is located in the tuber region of the hypothalamus and is considered as an integrate centre of the neuroendocrine functions and it mediates in the release of inhibitor and releasing factor or hormone, furthermore in the AN the peptides of the rennin angiotensin system and catecholamines are found, which are related with the arterial pressure regulation. The aim of the present work is to detect quantitatively the karyometric alterations of the AN in the hypertension and if they could be corrected by the captopril treatment. For that, male rats were used divided in four groups: control group, control treated group, hypertensive and hypertensive treated. The rats were sacrificed at 10 and 15 weeks of age. The treated groups received captopril in the drinking water. The AN neurons and the ependyma are affected in different way, thus the neuronal variations are more related with hypertension and the ependyma changes are more related with the age. The captopril treatment produces disperse karyometric variations, that afters more its rostral region.
