Résumé

This article explores the life cycle of the great contests and public shows of Franco broadcasting in the specific micro space of the western province of the Canary Islands. This research highlights the delay in both genders development with regard to Madrid and Barcelona, as well as the existing time lag between urbanized and rural areas of the archipelago. Together with unequal rates of implementation, a number of idiosyncrasies of the islands are provided to illustrate how much the peripheral and marginal zones may contribute to the current state of environmental awareness in Spain.
