Abstract
The aim of this article is to show to what extent the media are valid tools for linguistic research, and more specifically, for dialectal research. As I pointed out elsewhere, even though the media offer excellent possibilities to study word formation and to increase the lexical stock of a given language, it is advisable to act with caution when those are used as source of lexicographic data. This paper discusses some language samples taken from El Nuevo Herald, the Miami journal which best exemplifies one the three main Spanish language varieties in the USA.
