AB  - This article describes the appreciative looks and contextualization on the studies and profession
of the two stages of the history of Social work in Tenerife. Perspectives obtained through interviews,
questionnaires and focus groups, made to teachers, professionals and students, which
focus the strengths and dreams of the protagonists. The results reveal the driving strengths
and dreams developed by pioneer Mary White, teachers, workers and social workers and
institutions, making implementation and positive advances in studies and profession of this
discipline. Also, the current dreams that you want to reach aimed to continue adding more
level and quality studies and profession, the empowerment of the people, the social welfare
systems, human development, social justice and elimination of high levels of poverty in Tenerife,
which are undermining the dignity of persons and implemented effective social models.
