Resumen

Ninguna otra enciclopedia clásica concisa se ha planeado con tanto cuidado ni se ha preparado con la colaboración de expertos tan eminentes en las principales áreas del saber como The Oxford Classical Dictionary. La cuarta edición (2012) está convenientemente actualizada atendiendo al estado presente de la investigación, y es lo suficientemente representativa como para considerarla síntesis del saber clásico de nuestra época. Esta nueva edición, tomada en su conjunto, es una de las más importantes contribuciones de nuestro tiempo en favor del entendimiento entre los campos de conocimiento de la Antigüedad; en este sentido, he concebido este trabajo como una suerte de �Companion� a OCD, con la intención de destacar su papel como promotor de la unidad en los estudios de la Antigüedad Clásica.
