Resumo

Is there modification of the Cardiac Surgery risk profile through the time? Introduction: The profile of patients who undergo Open Heart Surgery (OHS) differs in time, as well as the values of their risk predictors calculated by Logistic EuroSCORE (LES). We’ll determine if the prognostic value of OHS patients has experienced significant changes between 2003 and 2012. Materials and methods: All patients operated of OHS in 2003 (Group 1) and in 2012 (Group 2) were selected. All LES parameters used to predict mortality risk by a specific formula were also collected and analyzed. Statistical analysis were performed using SPSS-18, considering significant results at p<0, 05. Results: From 458 patients studied, 276 (146 men and 130 women) took place in 2003 and 182 (106 men and 76 women) in 2012. Though the LES showed no significant differences about predicted mortality (5.04 vs 4.77), there were significant differences on the combined valve surgery (21 vs 27), chronic renal insufficiency (26 vs 35), artery disease associated (26 vs 35) and emergency (86 vs 35). Conclusions: Although there were no significant differences in mortality risk profile according to LES, there were some variations, falling down in certain parameters, and going up in others.
