Abstract

In the present article we make a tour through the cultural programming in the radio-broadcasting of the Canary Islands all over the Francoist dictatorship, from autarchy until late Francoism, paying a special attention in the western province of the Archipelago. The research had showed that the starting coupling «elite culture / values of the Regime» prevailed until the final years of the 50´s, when, owing to the socioeconomically improvements brought by the tourist boom, those contents lost strength in favour of more aseptic, popular and opening proposals. The paradox starred by the private broadcasting entity of the province, Radio Club Tenerife, which it was, in theory, the most traditionalist in that time in spite of its commercial orientation, illustrates the strong subjugation of this entire sector to the Regime
