Abstract

The purpose of this article is to analyze the situation of women of Chinese origin in Spain. In feminist and women's studies, the "glass ceiling" is a metaphor that alludes to the disguised limitation of women's job advancement within companies. In a similar way, the concept of "bamboo roof" has been coined, as a set of obstacles, barriers and any other individual, cultural or organizational factor that Asian women did. This, together with a series of stereotypes strongly embedded in the collective ideology, hinders their social and socio-labor integration as well as a stereotyped image of a community established in Spain for more than 40 years.
