In the feeding of newborn plays an important role the mother-infant interaction. There are very few contraindications for enteral nutrition (asphyxia, respiratory distress syndrome, intestinal obstruction, etc). It is always advisable to begin with breast feeding and to promote it as much as possible and should be set into motion the ten main points towards happy breast feeding. When the feeding is with milk formula the family history of atopic disease should be taken into account. For the nutrition of preterm infants we should be consider their special requirements and the feeding problems with enteral nutrition. Feeding of preterm infants can be carried out by partial o total parenteral nutrition, trophic feeding, enteral nutrition (continuous feeding or bolus intermittent, orogastric o transpyloric tubes...) During their stay in hospital the preterm infants can be feed with human milk (fortified or not) or with special formula for preterm infants, and after of discharge they cab be fed with enriched formula for preterm infant o with adapted formula for infants.
