Résumé

Through feminist genealogy, this thesis examines gender-based violence and the profound changes expected in Chilean society, particularly regarding women's equality and autonomy. It questions the gap between the promise of equality and autonomy in democratic discourse and its practical implementation in Chile. The central role of equality in the manifestation of structural and gender-based violence is emphasized. It is recognized that the promises of citizenship, normative, political, and economic equality have not been fulfilled. The neoliberal context and individual responsibility have contributed to the commodification of society and gender inequality. Gender-based violence is approached as a structural phenomenon rooted in patriarchy, colonialism, and extreme neoliberalism. A historical, reflective, and feminist perspective is proposed to understand the struggle of Chilean women for their rights and the need to transform society’s structural violence
