Abstract

Luis Miguélez is a Spanish composer and electric guitar player, who has collaborated with artists like Alaska. In 1991 he released Corazón de metal with his band Metálicos. In this record, he combined glam metal with a queer discourse. Miguélez's work mixes heavy metal with electronic music, thus not falling within the homonormativity of disco music, but neither within the heteropatriarchy present in most of the rock scenes. For this reason, his case serves to analyse how queer music can be effectively inserted into popular music.
