Doctor by the Universidad de La Laguna with the thesis Aproximación microelectroquímica a los fenómenos de corrosión la pasivación de metales y la inhibición de la corrosión metálica por medio de sustancias orgánicas 2014. Supervised by Dr. Ricardo Manuel Souto Suárez, Dr. Juan José Santana Rodríguez, Dr. Sergio Gonzàlez Gonzàlez.

The scientific career has focused on the chemistry of materials, surface science and electrochemistry. The most particularly relevant field has been the electrochemical characterization of corrosion processes within the (sub)micrometer range, with worldwide recognized contributions in the scientific community. By using the Scanning Vibrating Electrode Technique (SVET), the Scanning Electrochemical Microscopy (SECM) and the combination of the latest with the Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM), several methodologies have been developed to study the behaviour of systems of industrial and social of interest at the micrometer scale. These include structural materials (steel, copper, light-weight alloys, etc.), metallic biomaterials (titanium-based and magnesium-based alloys) and protective barriers (physicochemical study of inhibition phenomena, intact and defective coatings, cut edges, etc.). In addition, efforts have been conducted to develop unique multianalytical platforms for surface analysis.
