Sánchez Fernández

Assistant Professor in the Department of Fine Arts at the University of La Laguna (ULL). He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Seville, where he also completed his undergraduate studies in Fine Arts with a specialization in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage. He has carried out interventions on various types of assets, both movable and immovable. Examples of his work include archaeological sites like Acinipo in Málaga, involving prehistoric huts and Roman baths and domus, as well as the restoration of San Romualdo Castle in San Fernando, Cádiz, where he worked on stone materials and mural painting. He has also been involved in comprehensive restoration projects, such as the Chapel of Carmen in Cádiz, where he worked on stucco, stone materials, continuous coverings, altarpieces, easel painting, and polychrome sculpture. Additionally, he has performed restoration work on devotional sculptures like the Virgen de la Soledad and the Virgen del Rosario in Chiclana de la Frontera, Cádiz. Notable projects include the restoration of altarpieces for the Virgen de Valme in Seville and the Virgen del Carmen in Alcalá de los Gazules, Cádiz. He has also collaborated with professional teams for the study of the Roman Theater and the vaults of the Málaga Cathedral, as well as the Baños de Dña. María de Padilla in the Real Alcázar of Seville. His professional activities have been closely linked to the Instituto Andaluz del Patrimonio Histórico (Andalusian Institute of Historical Heritage), with projects like the comprehensive restoration of the Santo Cristo de la Salud Church in Málaga, which involved mural painting and altarpieces, and the images of the throne-baldachin of the Virgen de la Victoria in Málaga, which required the restoration of polychrome sculptures. He has contributed to scientific journals, both nationally and internationally, such as "Conservar Património" and "Ge-Conservación." Additionally, he has participated in various conferences, including the IV International Congress Science and Technology for the Conservation of Cultural Heritage, Technoheritage 2019, where he presented a poster titled "Morphology Virtual Reconstruction Renaissance Altarpiece from Antequera (Andalusian)." He has also published research resulting from knowledge transfer activities, including a book chapter on the restoration experience with lime mortars in San Romualdo Castle, included in "La Cal: Investigación, Patrimonio y Restauración," coordinated by Mr. Francisco J. Alejandre Sánchez and published by the University of Seville. He also authored the book "Conservación y restauración de bronces históricos" in the "Cuadernos de Bellas Artes" collection by the editorial Sociedad Latina de Comunicación Social.
