Doctor by the Universidad Complutense de Madrid with the thesis Conectividad funcional en registros de magnetoencefalografía aplicada a demencias 2011. Supervised by Dr. Miguel Sancho Ruiz, Dr. Alberto Fernández Lucas.

Resume After seven years of experience as product engineer in the private sector, I began my research career in Cognitive Neuroscience at the Magnetoencephalography Center of the Faculty of Medicine (University Complutense of Madrid, Spain). Since then, more than 40 international publications and 4 book chapters among other merits, endorse my dedication to the study of electrophysiological time-series through the named Functional Connectivity and the understanding of dynamical functional complex networks in the human brain. The term Functional Connectivity was coined to describe how brain regions are coordinated to support higher cognitive functions. It reflects the statistical interdependencies between two physiological signals, providing information about functional interactions between the corresponding brain regions. In addition, I have combined this research activity (since 2011) with teaching: see bellow. Education - Ph. D. in Neuroscience (Faculty of Medicine) Universidad Complutense de Madrid (June 2011). - Bachelor’s Degree in Physics (specialized in electronic), Faculty of Physics Science of Universidad Complutense of Madrid; from 2002 to 2007, working and reading. - Bachelor’s Degree in Technical Industrial Engineering (1993-1998 UNED, Madrid). Adscriptions - Magnetoencephalography (MEG) Centre: Faculty of Medicine. University Complutense of Madrid (2008 – 2011): Researcher. - Laboratory on Complex Biological Networks (Prof. Stefano Boccaletti). Centro de Tecnología Biomédica (CTB), Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (2011–2012): Postdoctoral researcher. - “Barajas” Therapeutic Centre (Madrid Council, Centre specialized in drug addicts) (2008–2012): Head of the Centre's EEG laboratory. - Laboratory of Cognitive and Computational Neuroscience (Prof. Fernando Maestú). Centro de Tecnología Biomédica (CTB), Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (2013–2016): Postdoctoral researcher. - Department of Biostatistics. Faculty of Medicine. University Complutense of Madrid (2017–2020): Postdoctoral researcher (program “Juan de la Cierva” of the Spanish Ministry of Science) and Lecture in Biostatistics. - Bioengineering group (Prof. Ernesto Pereda). Industrial Engineering Department, Faculty of Science, Universidad de La Laguna, Tenerife, Spain (2020 – present): Researcher (program “Viera y Clavijo” of the Universidad de La Laguna). Research activity (brief description) - Process, analyze and perform electrophysiological recording (MEG, Electroencephalography (EEG), intra-craneal recordings, etc.). Focused on understanding how the nervous system works at a cognitive level. Mainly studying information sharing through the brain, following the notion of Functional Connectivity (in resting state or during a cognitive task, under normal or pathological condition) and with the help of complex networks and statistic. - Implementation and application of algorithms (such as Phase Locking Value, Mutual Information, Synchronization Likelihood, etc.) from Dynamical Systems Theory) to electrophysiological data (time series). In short, implementation of the mentioned "Functional Connectivity". - Perform statistical analyses of the outcomes . - Use and development of several software packages for signal processing, image analysis and data management (such as HERMES, Matlab, EEGLab, Neuroscan EEG software package and BrainStorm). - Training and supervision in analysis of MEG/EEG neuroimaging data to clinical researchers and PhD students. Teaching activity - Associate Lecturer (2011-2015): UNIR (Universidad Internacional de La Rioja). Faculty of Education. Mathematics Department. - Associate Lecturer (2015-2016): Universidad Isabel I. Faculty of Education. - Associate Lecturer (2017-2021): Open University of Catalonia (UOC). Faculty of Psychology. - Lecture in Biostatistics (2017-2020): Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Faculty of Medicine. Department of Biostatistic.
