Zusammenfassung

Bone is a living structure and active, that is constantly remodeling, where old bone part are destroyed (resorption) and replaced by new bone (bone formation), so that the bone is being formed and destroyed continuously, even after the end of the growth in the adult skeleton, in a process called bone remodeling. Diet plays an important role in the formation and maintenance of bone mass, being the calcium and vitamin D, among other components, very important in the development of these processes. Bone tissue has a series of nutritional needs, which will be covered depending on the individual eat food. The contribution of nutrients in food will bring great health benefits, including bone health and quality of life. Food, therefore, must be balanced, varied and healthy, such as the Mediterranean diet, Atlantic diet, etc. The proper and right diet protects against the reduction of bone mass, therefore, enough nutrients are the most effective protection against the onset of metabolic bone disease and, thereby, people who consumed more varied diets have less possibility got bone disease, staying healthy longer.
