Resumen

The nicotine is one of the main factors responsible of the acute affections of cardiovascular system. For another hand, the median eminence and the arcuate nucleus belong to the tubeoinfudibular system where catecholaminergic and vasopressinergic neurones and fibres are observed. The aim of the present work is to analyze the effects of the nicotine administration on the ME and AN. Female mouse divided in four groups were used; control groups of 50 and 85 days of age and experimental groups that were treated with nicotine during 30 and 60 days and were sacrificed at the same age than control groups. For the immunohistochemistry anti-tyrosine-hydroxylase (TH) and anti-vasopressin II (AgII) were used as primary antibodies. The results showed that nicotine treatment produced a decrease of the TH-ir in the ME and AN. Contrarily the AgII-ir was increased in the ME and did not showed changes in the AN. The nicotine produces decrease of the TH and an increase of the AgII, in similar way that is described for the hypertensive rats, that could be related with the nicotine effects on the release of the neurotransmitter
