Abstract

Minecraft is a construction video game that allows the creation of three-dimensional objects. Due to this, it is an application that closely matches the contents and competences of the subject of Graphic Expression in Engineering. Spacial ability can be developed through standardized view exercises and playing is one of the ways to develop creative competence. Creativity competece is seldom associated with studies of Engineering. At the University of La Laguna through the subject of Engineering Graphocs, we pretende to develop these two skills through the use of Minecraft, performing traditional exercises of standardized views. On the other hand, it has also included elements of digital manufacture, such as 3D printers or 3D scanner among others, to link the world of video games with tangible reality. This article details the experience of the 2015-2016 academic year with a group of firstyear students of the Electronic Engineering Degree. In this experience students must create a 3D object in Minecraft. Students enter a custom environment, where each group has a workspace with the view exercise statement. Then they have to print the exercise in 3D.
