Résumé

In recent years the application of soil micromorphology has emerged as an essential tool to resolve and characterize geogenic, biogenic and anthropogenic formation processes (depositional and postdepositional) involved in archaeological sites. This technique allows knowing no t only the ori gin of each sedimentary facies, how it was formed and what processes affected it, but also provides archaeologists with the meaning of certain archaeological features (occupation floors, combustion structures, etc.) for the historical interpretation of the site. The use of micromorphology in the archaeology of the Canary Islands is just commencing. In fact, Fiquinineo is one of the first places whe re the technique is being employed. The p reliminary results reported here are very important to understand and interpret the history of the studied location.
