Abstract
The observed marital violence and the responsibility attributed to parents (because of their conflicts) were analyzed in order to predict violence in couples. With this purpose, the role of interpretation of violent experience on the transmission process is studied. Sixty university couples participated. Results confirm the importance of responsibility attributed to parents in predicting the transmission of violence in couples. Likewise, they suggest that an interpretation of the parent's marital violence more favorable to same gender parent is riskier for sons and daughters
