Abstract
Europe’s instability and political crisis in the 1930s and 1940s, frustrated D.J. Wölfel’s plans of investigation and field research on the language spoken by the primitive dwellers of the Fortunate Isles at the time of the Spanish conquest and unfortunately made his Monumenta Linguae Canariae, published in 1965, an unfinished contribution. Following Wölfel’s own invitation, a necessary revision and up-dating of this major work are demanded, a task which must be carried out by a team of scholars. Meanwhile and as a preliminary contribution to this revision, many notes and observations are provided in this paper.
