Abstract

In this paper we review the concept of paleontological heritage in the context of Canary Islands and suggest its management in the Historical Heritage. We also analize the applicable legislation in the Archipelago, and a double legal status (cultural and natural) is observed. Finally, we asses the current management and conservation of these heritage resources, moreover showing the deficiences in the Canary Community.
