Abstract
The European Regional Policy is based on the principles of subsidiary and solidarity; both derived from the Structural Funds. After 1999, the European Union is facing the challenges such as the internationalization of the economies, the European Monetary Union demands and this last´s growth. For these reasons, the European Commission proposes the consolidation between the Social & Economic Cohesion and the recent reform of the Structural Funds. The objetive of this article focuses on the analysis of the European Fund for Regional Development operational range for the period 2000-2006, as the main instrument to the European Regional Policy.
