Resum

The research study described in this article focuses on criticisms to the Piagetian structural viewpoint and its logicist postulate. Instead, we support a procedural approach directed at the discovery of cognitive processes and strategies involved in task resolution. We have likewise abandoned logicist biases due to their distorting effect on models of thought. Five tasks were selected belonging to the concrete operations period and were procedurally analysed through task-analytic techniques. The subjects were 240 primary school children attending third and eighth grades. The results are discussed within an information processing framework; a developmental model for this stage is outlined, and critical arguments on logicism are also provided.
