Abstract
This article takes a look at the Canarian industry at the end of the nineties and its evolution throughout the previous decade, determining the role played by the different business sectors within the industrial fabric of the community. It also includes a quantitative and qualitative assessment of the situation of the science-technology-business system. Finally, there is a review of the package of measures specifically devised in order to foster industrial development and technological innovation activities in the Canary Islands.
