Abstract
Words are not the basic units in natural languages, but discourse units. Only the speaker’s freedom —not the laguage itself— makes the implied conjuction of primary, categorial, morphological, syntactic and denotational meanings possible. This is the reason why the analysis of natural languages cannot be based on the word concept, but rather on the more elemental concept of primary sign, moneme, or morpheme.
