Abstract
Neruda continues deserving to be read because he bequeathed us with one of the most lucid accounts of the world in which he lived, from his free and priviledged use of the written word to the employment of words for less poetic purpose. His was an enterprise full of highs and lows, but no one can deny that the poetic tradition took a great leap forward with his contribution.
