A formal perspective orients the following analysis of Sophocle’s and Seneca’s works: that is, the need to interpret Greek and Latin tragedy, preferably, according to the traces of the mise en scène. Together, as a complment and a parallelism, considering the ideas dramatized by both authors allows us to honour the concept of the statesman and its ethical implications. Their works enlighten the conscience of the community, specially if we counterpoint its scenic patterns with characters from our closest surroundings.
