Resumen

Se revisan las formas de intervención sobre las fobias específicas más investigadas. Varios estudios muestran una importante convergencia en señalar que la terapia de elección es la exposición al estímulo fóbico. Las terapias cognitivo-comportamentales alcanzan también resultados satisfactorios, así como la terapia de exposición a través de realidad virtual. Los tratamientos farmacológicos no aportan efectos beneficiosos y no parece que una combinación entre los distintos tratamientos mejore significativamente los efectos de las terapias cognitivo-comportamentales. Por lo tanto, la evidencia disponible indica que éstas son las terapias de elección para este trastorno
