Abstract

Zadie Smith’s On Beauty (2003) has confirmed her reputation as one of the most acclaimed contemporary British novelists. Her success derives partly from her hommage to E.M. Forster by means of recreating some of his characters and situations from Howards End (1910) in her narrative. The aim of this paper is to offer a review of the main connections between these two novels.
