Résumé

Phraseological units (PhU) undoubtedly create problems in the translation of texts and they are of particular interest in the learning of a second foreign language, because they are used extensively in the spoken language. The difficulty that these PhU create during the translation from one language to another is influenced by two parameters which are their undefined origin and the diverse forms that they can take. This paper focuses on the diversities of PhU that exist in the Spanish language and how their frequent use has had an impact on their development. Their development is basically characterized by the lack, presence, integration or substitution of lexical items that can lead to the change of meaning or their disassociation from their origin.
