Resumo

The declaration of protected areas has become one of the public policies of greater experimentation and territorial importance in the Canary Islands (Spain), as it denotes his fast and significant space diffusion, with the consequent impact on the territorial organization and arrangement. Its implementation on the rural spaces -but not exclusive- turns it one of the basic strategies of its territorial and functional structuring from the environmental thematic. Nevertheless, its present conception and territorial materialization demand a consideration that out to remote of the stereotypes, approaches and arguments exclusively naturalist and isolationist, projects from the territorial sense of Geography, the sustainability, the land planning and the renovating philosophy raised from diverse international initiatives. In this paper we presented a general proposals that induces to a systematic approach of the conceptual components and structural guidelines of this environmental protection of the territory policy, whose conjunction constructs its present efficiency rating, as well as the forms of territorial implementation, in a change the paradigm in this question.
