Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to analyse the attitudes of prevailing trends in contemporary liberalism in the face of challenges posed by «modern pluralism». It tries to show that the predominant attitude in such liberalisms consists of attempting to exclude ethics and politics dilemmas —the deep disagreements— of political realm. In order to do this, firstly I will do several terminological clarifications; and secondly I will review and discuss the answers proposed by the different liberalisms supported by F. Hayek, D. Truman and Dahl, and J.Rawls. I will finish proposing some ideas about a «politics of pluralism».
