Zusammenfassung

This article presents the itherto unpublished translation of the joumey to Gran Canaria and Tenerife of one of many travellers who stopped at the Canarian Islands, in the 18th century, on their way to West Indies. Pierre-Claude Duret, native of Bourg-en-Bresse in France, called at the archipelago in 1708 and took advantage ofhis joumey in the two islands to describe landscapes and people, giving to History an appreciable testimony of the 18th century canarian reality
