Zusammenfassung

Clinical case: We present the case of a 43 years old male with previous history of minor left eye traumatism happened two months ago. The patient attends referring decreased visual acuity of two months of evolution. The examination of the affected eye shows heterochromia iridium, areflexic medium mydriasis and anterior subcapsular cataract. A foreign retinal body is observed in the lower nasal quadrant under indirect ophthalmoscopy and electrophysiological tests show pathological electroretinogram, all these findings suggest the diagnosis of ocular siderosis. Confronted with this clinical history a pars plana vitrectomy is carried out. After four months of monitoring, the patient has improved his visual acuity and ERG. Discussion: The correct anamnesis and adequate exploration in any ocular traumatism allow the early diagnosis of the presence of an intraocular foreign body , the early diagnosis is specially important if the body has potential of oxidation. We remark the usefulness of the ERG as an indicator for surgical treatment and as a monitor parameter in the case of opting for a conservative approach.
