Abstract
Family mediation is an extrajudicial and voluntary procedure to solve family conflicts, specially regarding couples with childern. It has been recently incorporated into our country’s legal panorama, firstly with the passing of the Catalonian Law of Family Mediation, which has been followed by other regional regulations. Secondly, with the passing of the 15/ 2005,8th July law of the modification of the Civil Code and the Law of Civil Prosecution. Thus, in addition to the forecast of a future national law on family mediation, it now considers the agreement of the parts in order to call off the ongoing judicial proceedings to submit to mediation.
