Résumé
Archaeologists were interested in the prehistory of La Palma Island and in its rock art, especially from1941. Their similarities to engravings found in Atlantic Europe, North Africa and the Mediterranean basin were used as arguments to explain a supposed diffusion of cultural features between Africa and Europe. We here explain the evolution of these investigations in La Palma during Franco’s regime, the results and the explanatory theories of the findings.
