Abstract
Although the definition of «canarismo» was not included in the DRAE until its 2001 edition, references to the Canaries are already found in sorne of the en tries of the so called Diccionario de Autoridades. Little by little, the Academy has started to complete the list of words and meanings marked with the abbreviation «Can.» in the new editions of the Diccionario usual. This article presents an analysis of all the lemma registered, the validity of their etymologies and the appropriateness of the proposed definitions
