Abstract

The career of Law is a prototypical case to represent both the model orthodox career and the changes taking place in professional and career paths. Women are deeply involved in such innovations, thanks to their recent and substantial incorporation to the legal profession. However, their contribution has been held back over time due to exclusionary rules and to the weight of gender bias associated to some professional practices. The careers of women lawyers reflect the changes brought about by women lawyers in gender profiles within the professional world, but also reveal their position as still secondary in those areas and bodies with greater social relevance.
