Abstract
The fauna of polychaetes Spionida endobiontic of 16 species of infralittoral demospongiae is studied from Canaries and Madeira. Nine species are recorded (six Spionidae and three Chaetopteridae). A diagnosis with illustrations of the species recorded for the first time for the area are provided: Rhynchospio cf. glutaea., Polydora caeca, P. hoplura, P. langerhansi, Prionospio cirrifera and Phyllochaetopterus socialis. Furthermore, faunistic comparative results of Spionida endobiontic of sponges with the Spionida associated to other hard sustrates collected in same habitats, are discussed.
