In this paper, we report a chemical preliminary study of the red seaweed Laurencia microcladia colected in Fuerteventura Island. The main secondary metabolite isolated was a previously reported halogenated substance possessing a non terpenoid C 15 , skeleton, Edihidrorhodophytin. This compound was evaluated against five human solid tumor cell lines and was essentially inactive.
