Abstract
In May 2006 a racist outbreak took place in a small neighbourhood on the North of Tenerife. Some locals demonstrated against the arrival of immigrant children to a Red Cross lodging at which they were going to stay provisionally due to the lack of better facilities. The article analyzes the follow up of the event in the information pages of three of the most important newspapers of the province. Our analysis reveals that two of the newspapers adopted a sympathetic attitude towards the demonstrators.
