Abstract
Five species of lichens are reported as new to the Macaronesian Region from the Canary Islands, some of remarkable floristic and chorological importance which make it possible to establish interesting connections between disjunctive distribution areas. Ecological data mainly based on our own observation are included, with emphasis on the diagnostic characters for the recognition of the species. The species are probably not rare, but overlooked, since they are either inconspicuous or morphologically similar to other species.
