Zusammenfassung

Around many big cities a particular myth has been elaborated. When we think about them, even if we have not visited them, several images will come out to our minds. These urban myths are feed continuously by the media. In the past, the painting and the literature played this function and helped to build these legendary images. Today the iconography and the myth of the most important cities in the world are modeled fundamentally at the movies in a way much more stronger and powerful than books or any other piece of art. In this article we focus on the particular elements of the film iconography of the city of Los Angeles and how Hollywood, one of the most important film industries, has conform our images of its streets, buildings and people through all the twentieth century.
