Resumo
My purpose here is to present a study model with which to address the historical problem of the situation of the Canary Islands in the context of the Mediterranean civilizations of antiquity. This model involves the establishment of a theoretical and methodological framework of reference and critical exploration of four main paths of analysis: a) the general historical context; b) sources of knowledge; c) aboriginal societies on the islands; d) their natural resources. The main conclusion from this study is that there are no sources or historical reasons that support any contact or influence of a political, economic or cultural nature between the states of the ancient Mediterranean and the Canary Islands.
