Resumo

Lung is the gateway to all types of pathogens and toxic gases dissolved in the environment and there is the first effective barrier against these agents. Biological response lies on a fine-tuning of immune responses of two types: innate and adaptive balance which decides the type of threat and the magnitude of the response. The "Toll Like Receptor" identify different forms of stimuli and triggers a complex response involving different concerted signaling cascades, TLR-4 is implied in highlighting in response to bacterial lipopolysaccharides of the RAK protein, IKK and NF-κß, targeting the controlled expression of different forms of system response immune lung epithelium including: IL-6 and TNF-a. Both the persistence of the stimulus as defects in the TLR may trigger an excessive response that culminates in the so-called acute lung injury (ALI) characterized by hyperoxic, edema, increased apoptosis and loss of physiological function.
