Résumé
In this paper a short historical course reporting the main advances concerning the respiratory apparatus has been carried out. In this process, the crucial point of the discovery of the alveoli by Malpighi should be stressed. From this moment onwards the study of the function of the air in the respiration and its need for life has begun. Further on, the iron lung, the mechanic respiration and, finally, the lung transplantation will be developed
