Abstract

In this work we analyze the singular form in which the Franco's regime managed during almost two decades (1950-1967) two elements that have characterized happening historically of Fuerteventura, his economic dela y and the social declaration of this situation, the poverty. The solutions that, from the pro-Franco bureaucracy, were designed to counteract this situation during the first Franco period, which in the island spreads exceptionally till the end of the 60, are exemplified in the so called Plan of Adoption and, more specifically, in the Project of Economic and Social Plan of Arrangement of the i!:,land of Fuerteventura. With both measurements, it is implemented progressively, an economic policy extremely interventionist that takes as a last end to obtain the autarchy, following the model ofthe European authoritarian systems (fascism and nazism). · The result was, ofa part, the maintenance ofthe local population in the limit ofthe biological resistance and, ofother one, to send most ofhis inhabitants to the ungrateful way ofthe emigration
