Résumé

In this paper, the life of Doctor Gaspar López and his book entitled In Libros Galeni De Temperamentis novi et integri commentrii (1565) have been studied. Doctor López was bom in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (Canary Islands) in 1528 and he died probably after 1565. Though he studied Medicine in the University ofValencia, several data support that he studied a period at least ofhis career ofmedicine in the University ofAlcalá. Doctor López is the only one native ofthe Canary Islands who has carried out a commentary to the Galen's De temperamentis. Such a significant contribution shows that he played a relevant role within the European Renaissance Medicine.
