Zusammenfassung

Case Report: 58-year-old male patient with a medical history of rheumatoid arthritis and hypertensive herpetic keratouveitis. The patient presented corneal ulcer with sterile corneal infiltrates with slow resolution, once the treatment with rituximab bolus started, the patient remained stable for six months. However, after this period a corneal abscess appeared and, as a consequence, rituximab therapy was restored. After this therapeutic cycle, the ulcer was healed but significant thinning of the cornea happened and thus a coating with amniotic membrane was performed. Discussion: Corneal ulceration associated with rheumatoid arthritis requires an exhaustive differential diagnosis, the treatment being very complex. The corneal resolution was achieved after the treatment with rituximab.
